CosFest Music Submission FAQ
Cosplay Main Page | Music Submission FAQ- How long can my music selection be?
2.5 minutes. - In what formats will you be accepting music?
Preferably, burned audio CDs. We can accept MP3 files, but preferably we'd like to receive them ahead of time so that we can adjust the audio level to be consistent with the rest of the groups and not blow out the audience's ears. - Are you accepting DVD-Rs?
At this time, we are uncertain if we will be able to support audio on DVD-R. We suggest burning a CD instead. If you feel the need to show your true l33tness and bring your music on a DVD-R, we can accommodate. - Are you accepting audio tapes?
Don't you hate it when that person at your anime club brings their old 3rd generation copies of Dragon Ball on VHS tapes? The point is, audio tapes sound terrible compared to CDs and MP3s. We won't have any equipment to accept audio tapes, so please use some sort of digital format (CD, MP3, WAV, etc.) We cannot accept Real Player or Real Audio files. - Can we record our skit at the convention using your equipment?
We are going to try to do this at Anime Boston, but we are still working out details. We have small microphones and sound editing software. Groups that have their sound completed will have priority for my time, but if you have your music and things like that prepared we may be able to do something. - What's a good piece of editing software?
I've personally had good luck with Cooledit for PC systems. You can download a 30-day free trial and fiddle around with it. Otherwise, dig around, there are plenty of software packages out there. For Macs you might want to try SoundEdit, Toast, or Amadeus. For Linux you probably already have ideas if you are a Linux guru. If you have a good sound editing tool to suggest, please send the title of the product to us to post here as a suggestion for others. - I have other questions.
E-mail me. I'm always checking e-mail.
